Ice Climbing in Maple Canyon

January was a great month for skiing. Unfortunately we don't really have any photos since we were so busy whooping it up. The skiing was excellent. We had some icy spots, but we also had two great weekends of powder. One of the weekends was the best yet, with 2 feet of super dry snow. We skied on Sunday without anyone else at the resort and got in a ton of runs on fresh powder. It was a blast. I (Matthew) recently converted from Telemark back to AT skiing and wow am I having fun again. I gotta hand it to all you telemark skiers out there it's a very difficult way to ski. It's a ton of fun but after three seasons I was still having trouble skiing diamonds I figured it's time to go back to just having fun. And what a blast it's been.

Last weekend we went to Maple Canyon with the climbing club. You might remember seeing pics of maple from the spring-fall. It's one of our favorite rock climbing areas. This time we went with the climbing club and went ice climbing. Cassie had been to Maple about a year ago, but it had been almost 3 years since the last time I'd gone. What a blast. The climbing there is superb with tons of routes very close to each other. We left with pumped arms and tired bodies. Ice climbing is a blast but we have too many hobbies already so we'll just toprope with those people who are nice enough to lead for us.
